Memories of schooldays came flooding back for a group of former Ellon Academy pupils on Saturday night.

Around 60 who started first year in 1984 held a class reunion in the town’s New Inn.

Many brought along photographs from their time at the academy.

One of the organisers, Amanda McGhee, said: “We had around 50-60 people there and it was a really great night.

“We had some former pupils from England and others from the Central Belt, so we were delighted with the turnout.

“There was a lot of reminiscing and people were chatting away for most of the evening.

The event raised around £110 for the Help for Heroes charity.

Amanda said a future get-together was very much a possibility.

She added: “At some point it would be our intention to have another reunion.

“We would hope to have even more people attend that one, given the success of this year’s.”
