Silly Sock Day success at Arnage
Arnage Primary School pupils have fun taking part in Silly Sock Day.
A SMALL Aberdeenshire school has held a successful fundraising day and helped raise awareness of the work of a charity.
Pupils at Arnage Primary took part in Silly Sock Day last Friday which was run by the STEPS organisation to bring attention to the treatment for talipes, or clubfoot.
It was aimed at highlighting the Ponseti method of treatment which involves a specific casting technique.
The fundraising day had particular significance for Victoria Cunningham, a member of Arnage Parent Council.
Her two-year-old son Harris was born with bilateral talipes and he has been successfully undergoing treatment since he was four weeks using the Ponseti method.
Victoria gave a short talk to the children about talipes and what the treatment involves.
Head teacher at the 20-pupil school, Margaret Rattray, said £40 had been raised for STEPS.
She added: “The children not only had great fun choosing and decorating their silly socks, but they also now have an awareness of this condition and the treatment that can correct a baby’s feet.
“Fun, education and fundraising - a winning combination.”
