Slippery journey for drivers

DRIVERS faced slippery conditions when a lorry shed part of its load on the A90 at Ellon.

Oil fish skins were spilled from the vehicle on the Auchmacoy roundabout near the Tesco store.

The incident happened at around 6pm on Monday.

Fish heads and guts created a treacherous surface for motorists and many slithered their way past the roundabout.

Police put up warning signs on the approach to the spillage and traffic returned to normal shortly after 7pm.

Bear Scotland, which is responsible for the country’s trunk roads, arranged for contractors to make the safe.

One driver said: “It was a bit tricky trying to drive on that surface. I’m surprised there were no accidents as a result.”

Brushing equipment, including a road sweeper, was used to to clear most of the spillage away. Council staff also assisted.
