The Inverurie Environmental Improvement Group would like to remind gardeners in the Inverurie and Port Elphinstone area that the closing date for entries to the Inverurie Garden Competition is Friday (July 25).

Entry forms are still available from Watson’s Hardware & Garden Centre, Inverurie Garden Centre, GPH Builders Merchants and Inverurie Library. Judging will take place during the first week in August.

The Inverurie Garden Competition has categories for the best small garden, best large garden, best low-maintenance garden, best individual hanging basket or plant container, best commercial premises and best non-commercial premises. The winners in each category are then considered for the top overall Best Garden in Inverurie Award which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Inverurie.

IEI Honorary President and founder Ranald Allan said: “The aim of the Best Garden Award competition is to draw attention to the contribution that Inverurie’s many gardeners make to the visual quality of the town and to encourage others to do the same.

The competition is organised by Inverurie Environmental Improvement Group (IEI),
