Students take home College accolades
Four local youngsters have been rewarded for their hard work and talent at an award ceremony for young tradesmen and women who excel in their chosen fields.
At the Aberdeen College Construction Crafts Ceremony on October 11, Euan Watson (18) from Tarves, Ellon was awarded the Grampian Building Employers Trophy (Stage 2) for carpentry and joinery. He works for JD Penny, Oldmeldrum. Udny apprentice Lewis Taylor (18) also picked up a second place at stage two level in carpentry and joinery. Lewis works for Rae Brown & Co Ltd, Dyce.
Meanwhile, Neil Irvine (20) from Auchnagatt was awarded the Scottish Decorators Federation Advanced Craft Award for painting and decorating. Neil is employed by Lawrence Milne, Aberdeen. Balmedie’s Ashley Robertson (21) won the Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering Award. Ashley works for Privada Developments Ltd, Balmedie. David Brooks, Sector Manager at Aberdeen College and Chairman of the Awards Committee said: “The annual awards ceremony provides an opportunity to formally offer recognition of the hard work and achievement of the students, who in conjunction with the efforts and commitment of staff and the support of their employers, have been involved in the vital process of education and training related to their chosen industry.”
