Waiting for Video...

A local dance school stormed to success at the Annual Festival of Highland Dancing recently.

Rosaline Hendry School of Highland Dancing shone among the competition that took to the stage.

Teacher Rosaline said: “It went extremely well. We had 160 entries from all over the country.

“We are delighted with how it went.

“Local dancers from the school all did extremely well - I’m always so proud of them.

“Championships were held in Glasgow on the same say so we were delighted with such a big entry.”

Rosaline teaches 50-60 pupils ranging from little ones right up to adults.

Some winners included Rosie Watt, Iona Black and Rachel Havlin who all picked up major trophies at the event.

She added: “Iona has been a pupil of mine for around 16 years- since she started dancing.

“Rosie travels from MacDuff for classes twice a week - quite a lot of the dancers travel quite far.”

Some of the dancers from the school are looking forward to their trip to Canada for the Scottish Dance Championships this summer.

Fundraising is going well but the school still have a little bit to go before they reach their target.

They will be holding a bingo night on May 7 at the British Legion in Ellon and a race night on May 16 at the Station Hotel. Tickets can be bought from any school members.
