Daviiot man, Clint Mackenzie, will be running through flaming bales this weekend as part of a ‘Tough Mudder challenge’ at Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfriesshire.

Clint will join colleagues from Omega Completion Technology, Dyce to complete the test of strength, stamina, determination and teamwork.

Running through flaming bales of hay is just part of the fun with 28 obstacles to complete which include swinging through greased monkey bars, running through muddy fields and running through a wall of 10,000 volt electric charged cables.

Malcolm says: “One of our Offshore Engineers, Ben, suggested Tough Mudder to us and described it as an ‘assault course’. We thought it sounded good so we all signed up. It wasn’t until later, when I did some research, that I found out what it really entailed - I was horrified!

“We are getting used to the idea of it now and are looking forward to it. I’d much rather experience it and say ‘I’m never doing that again’ than not do it and regret it. Plus we are doing it for a really good cause. The Archie Foundation does really great work and we hope to raise £3,000.

“We have had a lot of fun training and are just hoping to do our best- we don’t have a target time, we just want to get round it together and have a great time.”
