Former Ellon Academy pupil David Cooper who died after a courageous battle with cancer.

A FORMER Ellon Academy pupil has passed away after a courageous struggle against a brain tumour.

David Cooper died on February 9, aged 34, after a brief, but impressive career with the Royal Air Force.

The former ATC cadet had always wanted to join the RAF, and went on to serve in Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq. He was promoted to sergeant in 2009, he moved to RAF Oldham where he worked on Chinook helicopters.

Having undergone treatment for a tumour in 2011, a second was diagnosed as inoperable in February 2011. Latterly, he was cared for by his parents Billy and Morag, and wife Lynda, who supported him at Roxburghe House until his passing.

Speaking to the Times, mother Morag Cooper said her son: “David loved his life and lived it to the full.

“He loved his career in the RAF and will be sadly missed by so many friends and colleagues, as well as the family he leaves behind.”

David is survived by wife Lynda, children Alex and Beth, and parents Bill and Morag.
