INVERURIE West Church’s Junior Church is nearing the end of its annual fundraising project, and to mark the occasion, is holding a Swap Party.
The fundraiser will be held in the Church Hall on West Church Lane on Sunday, March 9, between 2-4pm, entry is £5.
The proceeds from the year long project are going to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research UK, after the group lost one of their members to the illness in 2012, and they would like to raise as much money and awareness as possible for the charity and the work they do.
This is the first known Swap Party in Inverurie, and is an ever increasing craze after becoming hugely popular in Australia, the US and now the UK. Known as “swishing”, the party asks for people to clear their wardrobe and bring with them any item they don’t want anymore and swap it for something that deserves a new home.
Items you can swap are- clothes, accessories, shoes, books, DVDS and CDs. Everything must be clean and in good condition to be able to swap, with a maximum number of five items per person.
Teas, coffees and home baking will be available at the party for a small price.
Hannah Cruickshank, one of the event organisers said, “It is a great event for bringing the local community together and it allows people who wouldn’t normally get a chance to meet to get to know each other”. For more information contact Hannah at firstname.lastname@example.org, or (01467) 670850.
