Wind objectors meet to discuss tactics
Campaigners against a proposed wind farm development near Auchedly have held a meeting, in order to discuss how best to try and put forward their objections to the scheme.
Over 70 objectors met last Thursday evening in the Aberdeen Arms Hotel, Tarves, in order to marshal their arguments against the plans, which would see four wind turbines nearly 90 metres tall erected at Douglashead Farm, near Tarves.
In his introduction, meeting chairman Martin Sisely expressed his view that the scheme was more of a business venture for its backers, emphasising what he claimed was the subsidy which went towards wind generation. He also expressed road safety concerns over the possibility of ice being thrown by turbine blades, and the potential distracting effect of shadow flicker on drivers.
In the discussion which followed, there was debate over how noise might affect local residents, as well as over the impact of glint and shadow flicker on nearby homeowners. The possible impact on ospreys was also discussed, as was the potential loss of amenity around Haddo House and in terms the view from the Prop of Ythsie.
Not all of those present were objectors, however. An invitation was made by a local farmer with wind turbines of his own for objectors to come and visit his site to judge for themselves the impact which they had.
The closing date for public representations to Aberdeenshire Council is 9 February.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 01:21 PMThese wind farms are a disgrace, we moved to the countryside to provide our daughter with a tranquil and peaceful upbringing. Now we are faced with having constant noise and shadows in our house. The pro wind farmer that attended the meeting mentioned above said he couldn't hear them as long as you were inside and had none of the windows open……yes that's just ideal isn't it. I am disgusted with the farmers that they would do this when they know there are young families that are going to be affected, this is a money making scheme and nothing to do with giving back to the community. We encourage as many people as possible to object to this development and if anyone requires any further information then please contact the chairman, Martin Sisley.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:16 AMWe need to get the Government onside, as well as local councils and others, if we are going to stop these wind turbines being built. Are you disillusioned by rising electricity prices, over dependence on the "green" dream [especially uneconomical and inefficient wind farms] and the destruction of our countryside then please register your objection to the Government by googling "petition 22958" and following the link. Please pass this message on to Councillors, members of your community and anyone else you know to persuade them to sign up too. If you are really concerned about wind turbines please write a letter promoting this petition to the Editors of your local newspapers.

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 09:47 PMThere is a superb epetition to reduce the subsidy for wind farms and force a debate on this issue. There are groups like this one meeting all over the country to oppose wind farms sited in unsuitable locations - the motive? Subsidy, which we are forced to pay on our electricity bills. Please Google Petition 22704 and send it to every person at this meeting. Help us end this scam.
