Woman rescued from Ythan

A WOMAN had to be rescued after her wheelchair slipped down a riverbank in Ellon.

It is understood she was pulled from the River Ythan in the centre of the town shortly after 4pm this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses said her wheelchair had slid into the water and a man had gone in to to pull her to safety.

The incident occurred on a section of the river near the New Inn Hotel in Market Street.
