Aberdeenshire councillor Martin Ford has written to Steve Walker, managing director of Stagecoach North Scotland, to express concern over proposed changes to bus services on the A947 and A96 corridors.
Councillor Ford is urging bus users to look at the proposals and to contact Stagecoach with any concerns they may have.
Stagecoach has published timetables for proposed service changes from, May 5, 2014, and invited feedback.
Details of the changes and information on responding to the consultation are available at http://www.stagecoachbus.com/Highlands%20and%20Bluebird%20timetable%20review.aspx.
Commenting, Councillor Ford said: “I would certainly urge bus users to look at the proposals from Stagecoach and contact the company if they have concerns.
“Of the changes proposed to services on the A947, the intention of routing all the ‘35’ services via Foresterhill is a concern.
“While it is important to have a service to the hospital, routing all buses that way, instead of alternating with Berryden, reduces the range of destinations conveniently served in Aberdeen. This change would certainly be detrimental for some.
“I am very unhappy at the proposed changes to services on the A96 because of the implications for residents in Blackburn and Kintore.
“Firstly, the frequency of the ‘37’/’37A’ service, which runs through Blackburn and Kintore, is to be cut. Secondly, under the published proposals, there will be no direct service between Kintore, Blackburn and Foresterhill. This is a very retrograde step.
“Stagecoach needs to reconsider its proposals for revised services on the A96 to maintain the frequency of services through Blackburn and Kintore and to maintain direct services between both settlements and Foresterhill.”
