ELLON theatrical drama student, Kim Anderson (20), is looking forward to her final year at the Stella Mann College of Performing Arts in Bedford, where she is currently studying musical theatre. She has enjoyed a wonderful summer of engagements including the prestigious highlight of the corporate social calendar, the Press and Journal Energy Ball, and the phenomenal Fyvie Live event last weekend.
Speaking after the experience of singing in the grounds of the magnificent castle, she said: “It was absolutely brilliant. Being on stage and looking out over the castle and the fantastic crowd – I thoroughly enjoyed singing my set and the crowd was very supportive. It was like a mini T in the Park and it was nice to see so many families, people of all ages enjoying themselves.”
At the Energy Ball, Kim sang ‘At Last’, which Beyonce Knowles sang at Glastonbury, and the Rogers and Hammerstein number, ‘I Have Confidence’, both of which she also sang in her four-song set at the castle’s 800th birthday celebrations in addition to ‘Colours of the Wind’ from Pocahontas and ‘Children Will Listen from ‘Into the Woods’, a number she also sang at the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year earlier this summer.
Speaking of the competition in which she reached the final 12, she explained: “I didn’t win, but it was great to take part and I was the first person from Stella Mann to ever get through to the final, so it was a great achievement for me.”
At Fyvie Live, after the performances were over, Kim was able to chat to Beverley Knight. She said: “She was very nice - we chatted about singing and I complimented her on her set.”
