An Ellon woman has triumphed at the Meallmore Staff Awards, winning a top accolade for going the extra mile to deliver high standards of care to elderly and vulnerable people.

Heather Harold, from Auchtercrag Care Home, has won the Manager of the Year category at the awards, which recognise outstanding performances by those who provide support to Meallmore teams and residents across Scotland.

Heather hit the ground running when she started at the home last year and very quickly got to know all her residents, relatives and staff.

Her professional, calm and measured approach, and sense of fun, has helped make the home a great place to live and work.

The annual ceremony, which took place at Perth Race Course on Thursday, October 5, celebrates the positive impact staff make to people’s lives on a daily basis.

Nominations come from residents, family and friends, visiting professional and fellow staff members.

Speaking about her win, Heather said: “I was delighted to have been nominated as Care Home Manager of the Year and was even more delighted to then receive the award.

“It’s a great honour and privilege to be the manager at Auchtercrag, and I’m lucky to work with such a supportive and caring team, who are solely focused on providing excellent care for our residents.”

Gerry Hennessey, managing director of Meallmore Ltd said: “I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Heather for her well-deserved win and thank her for her hard work over the last year.

“Our care home teams are instrumental in ensuring residents not only receive the best level of care and support, but enjoy a good quality of life.

“These awards are an extremely important way of recognising their efforts and hard work and I’d like to thank all our staff for their continued support and efforts.”
