Lottery grants for good causes

GOOD causes in Aberdeenshire received more than £1 million of National Lottery funding in 2012, according to latest figures.

A total of 102 grants were awarded across the region last year, providing a vital cash boost to local arts, sport and heritage projects, and community groups helping the area’s most vulnerable people.

Among last year’s grants was £7,650 awarded to community group, Friends of McDonald Park, to convert a derelict area of McDonald Park into a community garden.

Now these projects, and any organisation which has received Lottery funding in the last 18 years, have a chance to gain national recognition for their work as the National Lottery Awards 2013 open for entries.
