A public consultation is to be held on Wednesday, January 28 into the proposed rezoning of Mintlaw Academy.
The consultation is running in parallel with another consultation regarding the future of Ardallie School which is earmarked for closure.
It has not had any pupils attending since September 2012.
Some of the options discussed in the Ardallie School consultation suggest an extension to the Stuartfield School zone. Currently Ardallie School is zoned to Ellon Academy and Stuartfield School is zoned to Mintlaw Academy.
However, Aberdeenshire Council says that if any of the options that extend the Stuartfield zone are adopted then it would be necessary to reduce the Ellon Academy zone and extend the Mintlaw Academy boundary.
Current and future academy pupils living within the extension to the Mintlaw Academy zone would attend Mintlaw instead of Ellon with effect from August 18 this year.
The council is seeking the views of parents, pupils, residents and stakeholder views on these potential changes at a meeting in Mintlaw Academy on Wednesday at 7pm.
