Work is under way on a mural in the centre of Ellon.
It is part of Ellon Public Art Project which is aimed at brightening up areas of the town.
The mural at the Bridge Street shopping centre is being painted by three artists and they made a start on Monday.
It will lead to a colourful transformation of the large wall opposite Delicious Takeaway and Coffee Bar.
One of the artists, Yvonne Elliott, told the Times: “People have been interested in finding out what the design is based on and a little bit more about it and what the finished article is going to look like.
“We have been encouraging them to pop back and see us as it develops. We have obviously been telling them a bit about it and what kind of imagery is going to be involved.”
Yvonne added: “It’s really based on bringing the river into this courtyard.
“We were really struck when we visited Ellon before just how beautiful the riverbank is and also the flaura and fauna of the area. “We really just wanted to bring a bit of that colour and natural aspect into the courtyard.”
The artists would particularly like a visit from those who were involved in suggesting ideas for the mural during community engagement events.
The mural is due to be completed tomorrow (Friday).
