A leading breast cancer charity has honoured a group of women from Oldmeldrum as part of its annual Supporter Wall event.
The Supporter Wall event is an opportunity for Breast Cancer Now to celebrate those who have raised more than £1,000 for the charity.
Each supporter is invited to nominate a name to appear on the wall, with many often choosing those who have inspired them to fundraise.
Elaine Anderson, Co-Chairperson of the Oldmeldrum Fundraising Group, and her committee decided to include Margaret Robertson and her husband’s name on the Supporter Wall as tribute to her fundraising efforts.
Recently, Margaret and her husband celebrated their ruby wedding anniversary and – instead of wedding gifts – the couple asked for donations to be made to Breast Cancer Now.
Co-Chairperson of the Oldmeldrum Fundraising Group, Elaine Anderson, said: “It was a very special moment when I saw the name unveiled on the Supporter Wall.
“It’s a really nice way to acknowledge Margaret and her husband’s fundraising achievements.
“Breast cancer continues to have a huge impact on the lives of so many people and it’s quite inspirational to see the list of names, all of whom have been affected by the disease in some way.
Breast Cancer Now Director for Scotland, Mary Allison, said: “Our supporters are all extraordinary people who do brilliant things to raise money for our research. That’s why we put their names up on the wall to thank them for all their hard work.
“As well as recognising their enormous contribution and support, the unveiling also allowed our fundraisers to meet some of the scientists who are conducting lifesaving breast cancer research in Scotland.
“Our research will help to save lives through improving early diagnosis, developing new treatments and preventing all types of breast cancer. We can’t do that without the help of our supporters so that’s why events like these are so important.”
