On Patrol, With Inspector Steve Pratt of Grampian Police

On March 7 a man described as in his 40’s, stocky, with brown hair and wearing dark dirty clothing filled up a grey coloured Mercedes E200 motor car at a filling station in Ellon and drove off without paying. The registration number is thought to be KM10 JBO and enquiries are ongoing to trace it. Also on March 7, a car was reported parked on a ‘Zebra’ crossing on Station Road, Ellon. The driver was later traced and dealt with, having thought that the crossing only operated during school hours. These crossings are in operation at all times and the rules regarding parking within the ‘zig zag’ areas should be observed at all times.

On Thursday or Friday 8 or 9 March a fence at sheltered housing on Commercial Road was damaged, several planks of wood were forced off and splintered. Also, police officers in Ellon town centre on March 9 and 10 issued 3 fines of £40 for urinating in public.

On March 14, a 23 year old man was charged with vandalism following an incident in Golf Road, when a window was allegedly broken.

Overnight on Thursday March 15 into Friday 16, a break in took place at a garage premises near Potterton off the B999. Several electronic items were stolen.

Meanwhile on Friday, March 16 into Saturday 17 a window at Pitmedden Primary was broken. Police patrols have a record of checking the premises and nearby car park around 11pm on the Friday and everything was in order at that time, therefore the incident took place sometime after then.

On March 18, several members of the public reported that an erratically driven car on the A90. It was subsequently stopped by and the driver arrested after failing a roadside breath test. Subsequent tests showed that he was over 3 times the legal drink drive limit.

At some time between Saturday, March 17 and Monday 19, a premises at Mains of Kinmuck was broken into and electrical items stolen. Enquiries are ongoing.
