On Patrol, with Inspector Steve Pratt of Grampian Police

TWO weeks ago I reported that there had been several incidents of drinking and driving in the Ellon area. One of the offences has been to court, and the vehicle driven by the accused has been forfeited.

About 5.30am on Sunday, August 12, newspapers were stolen from premises on Station Road, Ellon and several of them were set alight in Gordon Park. The CCTV analysis is awaited.

About 8am on Sunday, August 19 the occupant of an address in Ythan Place, Ellon awoke to discover that his property had been entered during the previous night. Amongst the items stolen was a Silver/Green Fiat Punto, reg ST54 AXG. The vehicle is still outstanding.

Over the past two weeks speeding once again has featured heavily in local policing and continues to be a priority for local and roads policing officers. Over the course of that period, speed checks were carried out on the A90 around Ellon and drivers were detected at speeds of 106, 103, 101, 100, 97 and 95 mph.

Speed checks were also carried out within Methlick, and in the space of half an hour, five drivers were caught exceeding the limit.

Officers also carried out two stop searches in the last week which resulted in small amounts of cannabis resin and cocaine being recovered and two men being charged with possession of controlled drugs.
