Car parking meeting
in Ellon

Car parking in Ellon will be put under the spotlight next week.

A council review of parking is under way in Aberdeenshire and the meeting on Tuesday will include community groups.

The assessment, which has been conducted in towns throughout the region, has been looking at how car parking provision and pay-and-display charges are working.

It has also been examining how they can be tailored to best meet the economic and community needs of each location.

Local traders recently called for more free parking to be available in order to meet the needs of local and visiting shoppers with the impending arrival of discount chain Aldi.

One trader described it as “frustrating” not to have access to a large parking area, while another called on the council to be “more helpful and imaginative” and offer short-stay free parking to attract additional business.

Tuesday’s meeting will be in Ellon Primary School at 7pm.
