Council agrees to adopt local roads

ABERDEENSHIRE Council has agreed to ‘adopt’ four new roads in Collieston and Ellon, following a meeting of local councillors.

Councillors at the Formartine Area Committee agreed on Tuesday morning that Collieston’s Swan Place, Ellon’s Hopeman Drive, Hopeman Close and an extension of Covesea Place should be added to the local authority’s statutory list of public roads. The decision was taken unanimously without the need for a debate.

The decision means that any future costs for their upkeep will be met from the council’s annual revenue works budget.

Aberdeenshire Council is required to add roads and footways which have been completed to an acceptable standard to the Statutory List of Public Roads under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.
