GORDON Lib Dems have announced that John Loveday will again represent the party for Mid Formartine in the forthcoming local elections on May 3.
Cllr Loveday, who chairs Formartine Area Committee and has oversaw some of the most difficult applications to come before councillors over the past nine years, said that he was looking forward to continuing his work as a councillor if re-elected.
Prior to representing Mid-Formartine, he represented Meldrum and Daviot as councillor for eight years, as well as being involved with local community groups and Meldrum Community Council over the course of 37 years in the area.
He lives in Bourtie, outside Oldmeldrum.
Commenting on his time as a councillor, he said: “I am pleased to be given this chance to continue representing this important part of Aberdeenshire where we chose to settle, all those years ago.
“I am proud that I have been part of the Administration of what is now recognised as the “Best Council in Scotland”, providing excellent services to its residents. As part of the Council’s Administration, the Scottish Liberal Democrats have had to deal many deeply controversial decisions over the years, but the result has been a Council now looked up to by others in Scotland.”
He added that he wants to continue working for people of Mid Formartine - “be it Oldmeldrum, Pitmedden, Balmedie and Methlick and all places in between.
