A North-east politician has praised the work of a local food bank.
Gordon MP Sir Malcolm Bruce visited the Aberdeenshire North Food Bank, created to meet the challenge of people who are facing hard times.
Sir Malcolm met the founders and volunteers of the Inverurie facility, who gave him an in-depth look at the work they undertake.
He said: “It is great to see this kind of charitable activity taking place in the local community, a real local effort to help people who face hard times or a short term crisis.
“From the main service of food parcels to advice about long term help, Aberdeenshire North Food Bank is working hard for local people.
“I welcome the cooperation between foodbanks and organisation like Grampian Rural Action, Citizen advice, Social services and others who together are helping people facing hard times in the short term but also help them solve the long-term issue.
“Aberdeenshire North Food Bank is looking for any help people can provide, volunteering for a few hours, donations of food or money any help is welcomed and I would encourage everyone to get involved.”
