The newly refurbished Monymusk Village Hall was officially re-opened by Aberdeenshire Provost Jill Webster on Saturday, (May 10).
Alan Sibbald, Chairman of the Monymusk Village Hall Management Committee said, “The Hall Committee is delighted that Aberdeenshire Provost Jill Webster joined us to perform the official opening of the refurbished Hall by unveiling a memorial plaque. The plaque acknowledges the very significant financial contribution we received from the Scottish Government and European Community Rural Aberdeenshire LEADER Programme (2007-2013) which provided nearly half of the £220,000 cost of the refurbishment project.
“We also received a significant level of funding from Aberdeenshire Council through the Marr Area Committee, the Education, Learning and Leisure Capital Grants Scheme and planning gain. We received further contributions from five charitable institutions (the Robertson Trust, the Rank Foundation, the Garfield Weston Foundation, the Foyle Foundation and the Co-operative Membership Community Fund).”
The refurbished Hall is proving very popular with our established users and clubs. The improvements have also attracted new users and bookings for social events.
