Thanks to vigilant neighbours, a missing Oldmeldrum cat has been returned safe and well after disappearing during the cold spell of snow and ice.

His owner, who preferred not to be named, said: “Really it is thanks to our neighbours who made regular checks in their sheds and outbuildings, that he was found and returned home safe and well. He was gone for nearly two weeks and we didn’t think we would ever see him again.

“He was returned to us last week after being found in a nearby barn and we are so grateful that he has come home to us. It has meant we can relax and enjoy the festive season, which just wouldn’t have been the same without him, and even the dog seemed lost without him.

“He seems not to be any the worse for wear, in spite of his spell away - I’m not sure if he had access to food and water, but thankfully he came home looking perfectly fit and well, shiny coat and bright eyes, which is surprising.”
