Ellon Burns Club will hold its annual Burns Supper later this month.

It will take place in the Station Hotel on Saturday, January 23. Organisers say all are welcome and prompt booking is required.

The main speaker will be former Peterhead solicitor Gordon Hay.

Gordon is in great demand as an after-dinner speaker and is widely acclaimed as one of the most humorous performers of the Immortal Memory.

Dr Martin Pucci will introduce the guest performers as chairman for the evening with his signature dry sense of humour, and Stuart Presly, of Oldmeldrum, will be making a welcome return to perform the Address to the Haggis.

The Toast to the Lassies will be delivered by Fergus Mutch, formerly chief of staff to Alex Salmond MP and MSP, and now the SNP head of communications and research at Holyrood, who is making his first appearance at Ellon Burns Club.

Also making her debut with the Reply on Behalf of the Lassies will be former Ellon quine, Elaine Clark, of the hilarious ‘Flying Pigs’ comedy team, which has fans worldwide.

This year’s recital will be Tam O’Shanter, performed by Ellon Burns Club’s founding president, Alan Cameron. The soloist will be Kate Young, who is a talented singer with the Haddo Choral Society, and the ever-popular community singing session will be led by Alan Cameron, supported and accompanied on keyboards by Alison Young.

Tickets, priced £25, are available from club secretary Rob Merson on 01358-720635 or ellonburnsclub@hotmail.co.uk
