THIS week sees the launch of a Renewable Heating Community Partnership for Udny and Pitmedden, which will help residents lower their heating costs at the same time as reducing their carbon footprint. Udny Community Council has teamed up with the Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations and the energy company SSE to help households in their community apply for the Department of Energy’s Renewable Heating Community Scheme.
An information day attended by representatives from SSE, SCVO, SCARF, renewable heating installers and Udny Community Council is to be held from 10am – 6pm in Pitmedden church on Saturday October 13. Information will be available on how households an change to renewable heating systems including heat pumps, solar, thermal and biomass boilers from expensive high carbon systems, like oil and LPG . Savings could be in the area of £1000 a year.
