Shire Pony Club celebrates 80 years

Aberdeenshire Pony Club, is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, and is planning a major celebration and a children’s gymkhana to mark the occasion.

Aberdeenshire Hunt PC as it was originally known, extended from Moray to Kincardine at one time, with members throughout this area.

Over the years, the club became too large and was divided into the separate branches of Deveron, Deeside, East Aberdeenshire, Aberdeenshire and Bennachie

The gymknana will be held on Sunday, August 28 at Dunecht Estate, starting at 9.30am.

The club would like to contact ex-members and anyone who may have had a connection with the club, and would be delighted to extend an invitation to everyone to join them at the Ball. This is a great opportunity to get together and exchange memories with old pals.

The club would also be grateful for any information about the past, particularly information on any members who should be included in our Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the ball, which will be held on Saturday, September 10 at Ardoe House Hotel are available by contacting the District Commissioner on (01467) 681552, email prentice@oldblair.orangehome.co.uk or Michael Hamilton on (01224) 725504, email michael@parkhillcattery.co.uk

Tickets cost £50 per person, including dinner and dancing to “Splash” with guest speaker, eventing “legend” Lorna Clarke, and great auction prizes including Olympic tickets.
