The SNP has announced that Councillor Allan Hendry and local businessman Cryle Shand will be the party’s candidates in the Mid Formartine ward at the May council elections.
Mr Hendry, who lives in Balmedie, was first elected in 2007.
He currently sits as vice-convener of Grampian Police Joint Board and is a former Scots Guardsman. He served as a police officer in the Grampian force for 25 years.
Cryle Shand lives in Hatton of Fintray. After graduating in law from Aberdeen Unniversity in 1975, Mr Shand trained as a solicitor, before returning to run the family farm of Yonder Bognie near Forgue.
Speaking following their selection, Mr Hendry said: “I’m very pleased to have been given the opportunity to stand again by my colleagues and am delighted to be joined this time round by Cryle Shand. I know that together, we’ll make a good team to represent the Mid Formartine Ward.
