River City star, Tom Urie, was at Castle Fraser last week to launch a charity concert which is to be held a in aid of local children’s charity, Befriend a Child.

Castle Fraser will be the setting for the first ever Befriend A Soapstar Concert where actors from the nation’s favourite soaps will take to the stage to show off their musical talents, all in aid of the charity that supports vulnerable children.

At the event Tom Urie spoke about his involvement. He said: It’s the first time I’ve been involved with this charity. I was approached to launch the event and I thought it was a fantastic idea because it offers a little bit of hope for youngsters whose lives are not what a kid’s lives should be.”

The star, who plays Big Bob O’Hara and is also an accomplished singer/songwriter, will appear at the concert which will be held on Saturday, September 1. Coronation Street’s Anthony Cotton and Catherine Tyldesley, Tom Lister and Rik Makerem from Emmerdale and Jessica Wright from TOWIE are also among those that will take the stage.

Befriend a Child executive, Karen Farquhar said: “This is the first time Befriend a Child has committed to organising an event of this scale but we are confident that it will capture the imagination of the North-east public as nothing like it has ever been staged here before.

“We are hoping to attract in excess of 4,000 people to the event which will significantly increase awareness amongst the North-east public of the vital work we do with vulnerable youngsters living in our local communities.”

Tickets for the Befriend A Soap Star Concert are priced at £27.50 for adults (£15 concession) and are available at www.befriendasoapstar.com.

VIP tickets, which include champagne arrival drinks, a three-course meal, comfortable seating for the concert and access to the after show party can be purchased at the cost of £120 per person or £1,200 for a table of ten.
