Head teacher at Keithhall Primary School, Kate Lamb, was voted Teacher of the Year at the Pride of Aberdeen Awards held recently.

The awards ceremony took place at the AECC on Saturday, November 14, and the award was open to all teachers from schools across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

The awards are run by Original 106 FM.

Kate was nominated by parents who felt she deserved recognition of her leadership in creating a happy learning environment and extra-curricular activities.

Chair of Aberdeenshire’s Education, Learning and Leisure Committee, Councillor Alison Evison, said: “It is important to celebrate the hard work and dedication of teachers who inspire young people to achieve the best they can.

“I know that Kate is honoured by this well-deserved award for her work with young people, staff and parents at Keithhall Primary School, where she leads a thriving school community that in turn admires its head teacher.”

Kate said: “I’m delighted to have won the award.

“We have a very committed and hardworking team here at Keithhall with very supportive parents.”

She added: “The children are a fantastic bunch of people who are a pleasure to teach and great fun.

“This award is for everyone at Keithhall - pupils, parents and staff who contribute to making Keithhall the ‘big’ wee school that it is and I am very proud to be the head teacher of a dedicated team.”
