POLICE closed a section of the B999 Potterton-Tarves road on Tuesday morning, after a collision between two vehicles which left three hospitalised.

The crash occurred just south of Udny Station, and north of Whitecairns, on a comparatively long, straight stretch of road before 9am. The collision, between a white Vauxhall Corsa and what appeared to be a black Honda Civic, saw three people - two female drivers, and one male passenger - taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, with injuries understood not to be life threatening.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that police had closed the road in order to carry out investigations at the scene, just yards from a memorial to another road accident victim.
