Tipperty SWRI begin new session

The first meeting of the new session was opened by president Mrs Isobel Elrick who welcomed members present and new and said she hoped everyone had enjoyed the lovely summer weather. Correspondence was dealt with and the secretary’s minutes and treasurer’s reports were read before Isobel introduced Suzi McHardy and her friend Diane who had been invited to the meeting to demonstrate the unusual craft of fruit carving.

Suzi carved flowers from a variety of fruit and vegetables while she told her captive audience how she taught herself the art after coming to live in Scotland twelve years ago. Suzi made the carved flowers into a colourful bouquet which she kindly donated to the raffle. Tea and home bakes were served and then the raffle was drawn.

The monthly competitions were judged by Suzi and Diane, with the following results:

Garnish-

1. Irene Bartlet, 2. Isobel Elrick, 3. Lorna Strachen

Raspberry Jam-

1. Maureen Annand, 2. Chrissie Stott, 3. Margaret Henry

Mrs Marion Duncan gave a hearty vote of thanks to Suzi, Diane and the tea hostesses. Isobel closed the meeting by wishing all a safe journey home. The next meeting of Tipperty SWRI will be at 7.30pm on October 10 at Tipperty Primary School.
