Tipperty SWRI president Mrs Isobel Elrick welcomed members and guests, Newburgh SWRI.
As Isobel had decided to stand down, she requested the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports for a final time before calling on Mrs Jean Robertson, president of Newburgh SWRI, to present the trophies.
The Rae rosebowl for most points was awarded to Irene Bartlet, runner up Lorna Strachan. The Chrissie Greig trophy for baking was awarded to Marion Duncan.
Isobel congratulated the winners and thanked the committee and members for all the support she had received over the years.
A varied selection of entertainment followed, this including toe-tapping Scottish and Irish music an accordion solo, hilarious stories and Ave Maria, a beautiful solo by Jean.
This kept everyone entertained while the task of appointing nominees to the new committee was completed: president - Mrs Lorna Strachan; vice-president Mrs Cathrine Simpson; secretaries - Mrs Fiona McCalman and Irene Bartlet; treasurer - Mrs Andrea Elrick- Stewart; press secretary Mrs Irene Bartlet; magazine secretary - Mrs Adelaide O’ Brien; raffle secretary - Mrs Lorraine Hay; points secretary - Mrs Marion Duncan; tea convener - Mrs Greta McIntosh
The visitors judged the monthly competitions: Decorated egg - 1st Lorna Strachan; 2nd Joyce Catto; 3rd Moreen Annand and Elsie Cruickshank; Hot cross buns 1st Isobel Elrick; 2nd Greta McIntosh; 3rd Lorna Strachan.
After the raffle, Greta gave a vote of thanks to the Newburgh ladies. The May meeting will be on the 14th at Tipperty School at 7.30pm.
