An Ellon Club are looking forward to welcoming one of the best speakers at their latest event.
Ellon Burns Club will be holding their annual supper next week with a top speaker set to take to the stage.
Main speaker for this year’s event will be Professor David Purdie.
Described as ‘arguably the best after-dinner speaker of the moment’, Professor Purdie is most known for his very interesting Immortal Memory.
The event kicks off with the piping-in of the Haggis by Gillian Merchant and the Address to the Haggis will be performed by Davies Taylor.
Charles Wolrige-Gordon returns as the Chairman who will introduce the guests with his usual good humour.
Another new face to the audience will be Councillor Sandy Duncan of Turriff, while Cathy Fraser of Ellon Academy’s Drama department will be bringing all her skills to the table as well.
Former drama teacher, Laurence Young will perform the poem, Tam O’Shanter.
Club Founder and President, Alan Cameron will lead the community singing, assisted by Morag Paton on the keyboards.
The guest soloist will be talented local singer, Lorraine Clark.
The supper takes place at the town’s New Inn Hotel at 7pm on Saturday, January 18.
All are welcome and tickets, which are priced at £25, are available from the Club Secretary, Rob Merson.
