Lorry blocks road

A LORRY jack-knifed in the centre of Oldmeldrum at the weekend - blocking the road for several hours.

The ASDA delivery truck skidded in icy conditions in Albert Road around 4.30am and struck a garden wall, which was partly demolished.

Grampian Police confirmed the driver of the northbound lorry suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment. The road was blocked for more than four hours.

Residents described being awakened by the crash and going to the aid of the driver, who was trapped in his cab. They had to assist him through the driver’s window. One householder said the road was like “a skating rink”.
