Even climbing up Kilimanjaro together didn’t stop couple Kelly and Greg from arguing and raise nearly £200,000 with the rest of their group.

Kelly Mcintosh, 24 and her boyfriend, Greg Smedley, 28, from Ellon, were browsing at ideas for fundraising when the idea came into their heads to tackle Kilimanjaro.

Kelly, from Fraserburgh, said that what first started as a joke soon became a reality.

She told the Times: “We started joking about it then asked each other if we fancied doing it.

“We wanted to do it because it involves so much different folk.”

Joining the couple on their trek in September were 26 other volunteers from Glasgow, Wales and England.

The group decided to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support and so far the volunteers have collected over £199,000.

The couple raised over £10,000.

The couple who have been together nine years, said that being stuck together in a tent for over a week, caused no problems.

Kelly continued: “It’s quite funny because people thought we would argue but we didn’t!

“The experience was amazing. It was really hard but we got to meet a lot of new people and hear their stories.”

The couple would like to thank everyone in the community who supported them throughout their fundraising.
