A Huntly man is hoping to be reunited with his war-time medals having lost them at the weekend Remembrance Parade in Ellon.

Mike Taitt, from Glass, who took the salute at Sunday’s parade, last saw the four medals as he was letting his pet dogs out of his car.

The medals are a Territorial Decoration, General Service Medal, UN Medal and a Malaysian Medal.

His Balmoral with a Gordon Highlanders silver star badge also went missing.

Mr Taitt told the Ellon Times: “The medals must be worth in the region of £500 to £800, but it’s not the money, it’s the sentimental value of them that’s important.

“I have informed the Police and I believe that there has been a story shared on social media, but as yet I’ve heard nothing.

“People in the Ellon area have had a look around where I believe they went missing, but without any luck.”

If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the medals, they should contact the police on 111 with the details.
