On Saturday 26 May 2012, Ellon Police Office will be holding an ‘Open Day’ The adjacent Fire Station is having its annual ‘Fun Day’ that afternoon from 1.30pm to 4pm and the doors to the Police Office will be open at the same time for anyone wanting to come in and visit us and see round the cells, some of our equipment, vehicles and get crime prevention advice. I will be on hand along with several members of my staff to answer any questions or queries that you may have on policing matters in and around the Ellon area.

Onto other business now and on 14 May a vandalism took place at Ellon Library. Following enquiry into this incident a juvenile will be reported for the crime.

On 21 May an alert member of the public reported suspicious activity on Bridge Street, Ellon and nearby patrol was on the scene quickly which resulted in a man being arrested and charged with vandalism. I have said consistently over the years that early reporting of incidents is key to the success in detecting this sort of crime and once again I am grateful to the individual for picking up the phone and telling us what was going on.

My colleagues in the Roads Policing Unit have been out on the A90 again this week and the problem with excessive speeding shows no sign of reducing with several more drivers caught at speeds of up to and over 100 miles per hour on the open road.
