With Inspector Steve Pratt of Grampian Police

Letters have been circulating this week in Ellon, purporting to be from a representative of Colonel Gadaffi’s recently deposed Libyan Government, offering a financial investment.

Several have been with delivered by post at various addresses in the town and it is clearly one of those ‘scams’ that appears from time to time in the Formartine area.

The previous advice that I have put out has been ‘if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is’ and that still stands. Do not get involved in anything unless you know exactly what you are getting yourself into, and have had appropriate and professional financial advice from someone registered under the Financial Services Act.

During the early hours of Saturday, June 16 a Police patrol in Ellon had occasion to follow a vehicle being driven at a grossly excessive speed through the town.

As a result, a local man has been charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop for the Police.

Also on Saturday, June 16, a 15 year old boy was searched by Police at Oldmeldrum, and found to be in possession of a small quantity of Cannabis Resin. Parents were summoned and he was released into their care having been charged.

Around half past midnight on Sunday, June 17, a member of the public reported seeing two men throwing stones at a house in Keithleigh Gardens, Pitmedden.

The occupant of the house later discovered that a window had been cracked as a result. Enquiry into this incident continues.

Staying in Pitmedden and overnight on Saturday into Sunday 23/24 June a fence was damaged also at an address in Keithleigh Gardens.
