The Ythan Singers recently celebrated “35 years of Music” at their annual charity concert in Hatton Public Hall.

Under the baton of their conductor Alison Stephen, and accompanied by Rosemary Lund, the choir took the audience on an inspiring

musical journey.

The concert opened with a selection from West Side Story and the Music Man.

It included contemporary music by John Rutter - “Look at the World”, “The Gift of Music” and “For the Beauty of the Earth”, and also Karl Jenkins’ “Adiemus” in which Jean Stevenson played the flute solo.

The Sinatra Showcase saw many of the audience humming along, particularly to “New York, New York”.

The concert included solos by Carole Fox, Christine Cruikshank, and Hazel Wilkins and also a quartet comprising of Carol Addison, Christine Cruikshank, Frances Morrison and Jennifer Strachan.

The singers - who were formed 35 years ago - would like to thank the audience for coming along and for their generosity.

Profits from the concert and the raffle – £350 - will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.
