McDonald Golf Club hosted the annual Bill Deacon Tournament last weekend, in memory of a heroic former member who died saving others.
This annual tournament is held in honour of Bill Deacon who in 1997 tragically lost his life rescuing seaman from a sinking ship. Bill was a winchman on a search and rescue helicopter. He had successfully rescued all of the seaman on the stricken vessel, prior to being swept away himself.
This year, son Alan joined Dave and friend Tony in the tournament which is held in the memory of his father. He was later joined by his family for lunch in the clubhouse.
This year the winner of the tournament was DE Moir.
