AFTER the match, delighted Locos co boss Scott Buchan said, “It’s been a tough week. We lost to the leaders Brora last week, playing the final half hour with ten men then came though 120 minutes play with an Aberdeenshire Shield Semi Final win over Huntly with practically the same team.
“So we did well to win here, there were tired legs out there. The club has come on leaps and bounds from that dark Wednesday night here last term. Young Mark Souter played in that game, he got stronger as the game went on, centre half is not his favoured position. He was playing alongside Greg Mitchell another teenager but Ryan Broadhurst kept them right and John Maitland, playing well at left back again.
“The conditions were not the greatest but we came here to have a right good go playing 4-3-3. Dean Donaldson has scored again, he also did well but was feeling his hamstring so gave way to Jamie Michie who netted a tremendous free kick.
“He does that in training and we’re delighted to have him back recalled from loan after being out with a broken leg. We told him to get over the free kicks. He’s going out to New Zealand at the end of next month looking to start a new life.
“It’s been psychological, Formartine above us, but now with them not playing again we’ve finally gone above them into third place. And there’s the chance to put daylight between ourselves as they have a League Cup game on this weekend.”
