It was league business again on Saturday when Cruden Bay entertained Colony Park in a PMAC Division One clash.

The first ten minutes produced little action or goal mouth incidents.

A corner from Glendinning on the right was headed back across goal to Sime, who could only head the ball into keeper Duguid’s hands. Then Tocher cut inside to lay the ball to Stainton on the edge of the box, but again the effort went straight to Duguid.

Colony Park then began to get more into the game.McDonald managed to get through the centre of the Bay defence but put his final effort wide of goal.

Paterson put in a pass to Findlay whose cross from the right just eluded Smart. Although the visitors’ were stroking the ball about, the Bay went ahead after twenty six minutes.

The Bay were awarded a free kick on the left which Glendininng crossed into the visitors’ goalmouth - Crosbie got to the ball first but only succeeded in heading the ball past Duguid.

The visitors tried to get back into the game, but a McDonald cross from the left was easily collected by Gatt.

The Bay then had a lucky escape, when they failed to clear their lines and Bonarius pounced on the ball and put in a shot which rebounded off Gatt’s right hand post and the ball was eventually cleared.

In a Bay attack a Tocher chip aimed for Smart went straight to keeper Duguid, while at the other end a C. Roddie cross to Bonarius ended with the latter’s shot being saved by Gatt at the second attempt.

Glendinning won the ball 25 yards out and put in shot which went wide of the target. Arthur put a pass through to Paterson on the left who put in a cross, which Duguid parried initially but then managed to grasp the ball as Smart moved in to challenge.

McDonald made a good run down the left but a combination of Findlay and Sime cleared the danger.

The visitors’ equalised a couple of minutes before half time - Gatt failed to collect a corner from the left and Bonarius was able to prod the ball into the net.

In an opening attack Cooper made a run down the left and into the box, however, he overran the ball Norris lost the ball in midfield and allowed Cooper to collect and make run on goal, the final effort going over the bar. In further attacks by the vistors McDonald attempted two crosses from the right, but both went well behind.
