Cup tie KO’d

Formartine United again fell victim to the weather when their Aberdeenshire Shield semi-final against Turriff United at North Lodge Park was called off on Wednesday night.

It came after their home league match against Clach at the weekend was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. This time it was down to snow.

Meanwhile, title contenders Nairn County closed the gap on the Pitmedden side to one point when they moved up to fourth with a comfortable 5-1 victory over struggling Fort William at Station Park.

Formartine head to Forres on Saturday for a Breedon Aggregates Highland League Cup tie. Mechanics recently defeated United 2-1 in a league game at Mosset Park.
