Milton Park again proved to be a jinx ground for Ellon United who returned emptyhanded after gifting Banchory St Ternan their first league points with a 1-0 win on Saturday.
The only goal arrived in the 61st minute. A speculative long ball forward looked to be bouncing through to Callum Steer when a miscued defensive header only succeeded in teeing up substitute Davie with a simple lob over the stranded keeper.
United’s miserable afternoon was compounded in the last minute when Ryan Stewart was sent off for his part in an off-the-ball incident.
United are at home to New Elgin on Saturday and it will need a significant improvement if they are to compete with the Moray side, who have made a promising start to their season. Kick-off at the Meadows is 2pm.
