Aberdeen FC have appointed a scout for North West Aberdeenshire.

Brian Paterson has been in a scouting role with the Dons since 2012 and has a wealth of coaching experience, particularly in the Garioch area.

Brian, 56 and from Oldmeldrum, started coaching with AFC community department in 1994 through to 2003, progressing to AFC youth development from 1998 until 2012, which involved coaching various age groups.

He had to give up the youth development side due to job commitments and switched to scouting in 2012, covering mainly the Aberdeen area.

Brian then scouted in South Aberdeenshire before taking up his current role towards the end of last year.

He said: “I cover from Alford to Balmedie and all places in between where I look for talented kids to introduce into the AFC youth development system.”

Brian’s coaching background started with Colony Park 10’s in the 1992/93 season and then moved on to setting up and running Kinellar Soccer 7’s from 1994 to 2003.

His playing background included Inverurie Juniors in the 1980s and also spells at both Burghmuir and Meldrum amateur football clubs.
