Ellon United hope to be back in action this weekend after a prolonged break due to the recent weather.

United travel to take on Banchory St Ternan on Saturday.

The team have found it difficult to maintain training with limited access to the all-weather pitch at the Meadows because of frost, and grass training areas due to flooding.

Co-manager Chris Allsop said that despite the lay-off the squad look to be in good shape.

He added: “We hope the game will go ahead at Banchory, as a team we are desperate to get back into it. “Banchory are always a well-organised and youthful team so we will need to be switched on from the start on Saturday.

“It is an important game for us with them being just a point behind us in the league.

“The first half of the season has seen some sporadic performances from us, sometimes brilliant and others unfathomable.”
