Inverurie Locos suffered their first defeat 2-1 at the hands of Gordon neighbours Huntly since November 2009 on Saturday.

Up against former players Murray McCulloch, Gary McNamee and Dean Donaldson with Mark Lawson on the bench, Locos failed to heed the warning that the Black and Golds were coming off five defeats in a row and were bound to hit it right sooner or later.

Six minutes into the game Donaldson’s quick throw sent Adam McNamee into the visitors box. Referee Liam Duncan pointed to the spot after Marc Young was adjudged to have pulled down McNamee. DONALDSON sent the spot kick high past Mathieson for his first Huntly goal.

Martin LAING levelled the game in the 20th minute firing home from the edge of the box.

Mark Souter came on as a sub for Colin Charlesworth but his involvement was short as he was sent off late on for foul play.

McNAMEE netted the winner with three minutes to go after Ryan Broadhurst failed too cut out a cross.

This Saturday Locos entertain Strathspey Thistle in the Highland League at Harlaw Park. Kick off is at 3pm.
